Worktapes are just little demos (in my case, phone or GarageBand recordings) that artists normally make when they’ve written something new. So really fresh versions of new songs that I listened to and shared with my producer, Brent Cobb, to form ideas of which songs should be recorded, how they should be produced, and what needs to be written more. Some songs in this process didn’t make the final records, but I still love them and know they will find another life some day. Many of the work tapes for this record were made in the mountains in NC at a cabin in the woods where I went to write for a week while my kids were at summer camp close by.
